My Priorities
For Our Students
Veva's commitment to our students is driven by her belief that all students in our community should have the opportunity to benefit from the best educational system possible. This is why Veva has voted to expand Dual Enrollment programs and Career Technical Education which has allowed our students greater opportunities for higher education and vocational training.
“Many of Fresno Unified School Districts students live in poverty, we need to be intentional in breaking cycles of poverty and supporting children from disadvantaged households to be successful. We can ensure a better future for every child by aligning our priorities and resources to support student success. Over the last eight years, I have voted and driven resources that help to position our student’s success, from enhanced tutoring, greater access to technology and investments in after school programs.” - Veva
For Our Community
Veva's commitment to our community is demonstrated through her many years of service. She was appointment by the Governor to serve on the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley Board and the Health Benefit Exchange Board for California. In 2017, Veva was selected as a National Culture of Health Leader by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. In 2021, Veva as honored as a Community Health Hero by California State University Fresno’s College of Health and Human Services. Veva was also recognized in 2021, as the Fresno Community Champion by Go Public Schools Fresno.

Veva's recognizes that when we fail in education we fail to build the talent that we need for a prosperous future. This is why she is focused on promoting higher student achievement through Student Outcomes Focused Governance.

From Kindergarten to High School, our children should be challenged to excel.
